End of ROW80 #2

I’ve been a blogging fool this week. 🙂

This round of ROW80 was a lot different for me from the first.  I had one goal and I wasn’t a sponsor, so I wasn’t as engaged.  Still, I left a few comments here and there and could always count on a couple of people to leave comments for me.  Thanks for that!  Especially Lauralynn. 🙂

My goal was to finish Glow and publish Glow and to do all things Glow.  I’m happy to say that I met my goal.  Glow will be published in e-book form next week.

I had a few obstacles that I didn’t foresee. (Why can’t I have glimpses!?!) My kids are growing up, as they tend to do, and proved to be up in my grill more than when I wrote the previous books. For instance, my daughter was a new walker who took two naps a day when Glimpse came out and wasn’t quite two when Glimmer was published.  Now she is a crazy, bossy, feisty, smart no napping spazmataz 5000 and will climb on top of bookshelves to get my attention. Oy vey.

I also got into a car accident.  That sucked and put me out of commission for a while.

I got a bug up my butt and decided to publish a book of essays. (Which is doing pretty well and is getting good reviews, so I think it was the right decision!)

And then there’s the matter that Glow is the final book in a trilogy.  That may have been my biggest obstacle.  It wasn’t allowed to suck even a little bit.  There isn’t another book to redeem the characters or make things clear in.  It was easy going at first and then I got to chapter 11 and it toyed with me for a week.  Then chapter 14 decided to mess with me for two.  I had a hard couple of weeks trying to finish it.  I was worried that I hadn’t done right by the readers.

But, I’m starting to get beta comments back and it looks like, for some of them, Glow is their favorite of the three books.

So, it’s been an interesting round and I’m ready for #3.  I hope you’ll join me!

  1. Congrats! I’m sorry to hear you’ve had so many obstacles in your way (especially the car accident) but it sounds like you got through everything. Good luck with the next round. 🙂

  2. yayyyyyyyyy!!! i’m so excited 😀
…and i’ll just say that i love the way you tell it like it is. life is life and it gets in the way sometimes but you always make me laugh with your funny twists 😛

  3. You’ve done really well considering what all you’ve been through this round. And go you for getting Glow ready for publishing. i can’t wait to read it! I loved the first two as well as everything else I’ve read that you’ve written.

ANd of course I leave comments for you. You’re one of my favorite people! :0)

  4. I think it’s safe to say you not only accoplished your goal this round, but nailed it! Hope you’ll be around for Round 3. I love being inspired by other writers.

And I’m so excited Glow will be out next week! Just in time for my beach vacation 🙂

  5. I feel out of it cos I haven’t read the first two books! But so far no real confusion going on and I’m enjoying the characters right off the bat!
So exciting that you met our goals and then some!

  6. Yay you! I feel you on the growing kid thing. You kinda make plans thinking they’ll always be a certain way, and five seconds later, they’ve had a personality transplant and can do a whole new variety of damage. 🙂 My youngest discovered stairs this week. She’s now ten times harder to take care of. LOL. The twins think it’s funny to open the doors and call her into the hall. It’s sooo not. 😉

Congrats on everything you’ve achieved this round. I can only imagine how hard writing the last book in a series must be. I’m going to put that one off for as long as possible. 🙂

Glad you’re okay after the crash, and I hope you aren’t dwelling on it, missy. I hope Glow goes really well for you.

    1. Oh, gawd I hate stairs + kids. We don’t have any stairs in our house, so whenever we go over to someone’s house that does, my daughter is up and down them a million times, not paying attention to what she is doing. I really want to get her a helmet.
lol to putting off writing a last book in a series. I guess since I’ve done it I know I can do it and it might not be so hard next time…or it will suck just as badly and I’ll cry. 🙂

  7. I have to admit I can relate to feeling a bit less tied in as a sponsor. We were on similar tracks this round, you with Glow and me with Most Likely. Yay us! See you in Round 3.

  8. well done on all acheivemnets and that includs the motherhood bit – to all of you trying to write and bring up a family i bend a knee (slightly old and stiff!) in homage – amazing folk – indeed to anyone writing and caring – you all ‘rock’ as you youngsters say!

sorry to hear about the car crash – it takes a while to recover but as the very! young policeman said after a crash I had 20 yrs ago – be pleased you’re alive and can suffer stress

see you in round3 – keep smiling
